RollerCoaster Tycoon World is coming to Steam Early Access

The next game in the RollerCoaster Tycoon series is getting an Early Access release on Steam next week. Team RCTW promises a ton of content in the Early Access version such as freeform coaster building, curved pathways with different widths and styles, the ability to create objects and import them into the game, fully deformable terrain, a campaign, scenarios, sandbox mode, 10 coaster types, over 30 flat rides, themes, scenery items, and “much, much more”.

Early Access of RollerCoaster Tycoon launches on March 30 and the team wants player feedback to help shape the game.

As some of you may have guessed, we’ve been silently running a large test group with some members of the community since the beginning of the year. We’ve made so much progress with this group – getting invaluable feedback, testing ideas, and more – that we realized how much of a boon letting the rest of the community in would be in shaping our game. We cannot thank this group enough for their passion for the franchise and their contribution to the game, and for inspiring us to let the rest of you into the world of RCTW.

This is the beginning of a new journey. RCTW was always going to develop and improve as time went on. Now you will have a direct impact on that process. It is only with your feedback, your input, your passion, and your creativity that we will bring the game to new heights.

There will be some updates in the following months that will bring some additional content.
The content will include:

    Piece-by-Piece Custom Built Structures
    Scenario Editor
    Mini-rides and Dark Rides
    Additional scenarios
    Transport Rides
    Fence Builder
    New and expanded decoration themes
    Additional Flat-rides
    Weather
    Custom music
    New Rollercoaster types

RollerCoaster Tycoon will remain in Early Access until the game is “ready” and there is no release date yet. You can get a refund until the 31st if you find you don’t like it.

I’m totally on board with this. I had a blast in the early 2000s with the original RollerCoaster Tycoon. I’d love to get back into it.
