Yesterday, Japanese website, Nikkei, reported Nintendo would be ending production of Wii U in 2016. Wii U titles would still be produced, but no more Wii U consoles would be manufactured to prevent excess inventory.
Nintendo is now denying this claim. A Nintendo spokesperson told IT Media, as translated by Kotaku, “This isn’t an announcement from our company.”
“From the next quarter and thereafter as well, production [of the Wii U] is scheduled to continue.”
If you’re considering getting a new Wii U in the future, it looks like you won’t have to worry too much.
