Many new things are coming to Super Mario Maker on March 9. Shaking a thwomp will transform them into a skewer. You may recognize these from castles in Super Mario World, large spiky pillars that will try to crush Mario. Shaking a P-switch will turn it into a key, and likewise doors that are shaken are turned into key doors. You will need a key to open a key door (duh). Keys can be hidden in blocks or placed inside an enemy to create mandatory boss battles. Shake a coin (had enough shaking yet?) to create a pink coin. You can make multiple pink coins and force the player to collect them all to manifest a key. Nintendo must be picking up on the popularity of creating puzzle-centric courses.
Besides course elements, some updates were made to online modes as well. The 100 Mario Challenge is getting a Super Expert mode, which will take you through the hardest courses on the net. Clearing Super Expert mode will earn you more mystery mushroom costumes.
This update hits March 9. Are you going to take on the Super Expert challenge?
