Microsoft announces support for cross-network play

It was announced in a recent letter from Xbox Wire that in addition to natively supporting cross-play between Xbox One and Windows 10 games using Xbox Live, Microsoft will be allowing developers to utilize cross-network play with other consoles.

This way, Xbox users and PC users with the same game can play online together, given the game developer supports it. And should other consoles support it, they will be able to connect the same way. This should create a larger online community for many games. If it takes off the way it should, we should no longer see a division of players based on platform. Everyone can intermingle like one big happy family.
