What is Save Scumming?
“Save scumming” is what is known as a method of reloading a save file repeatedly to manipulate the outcome of an event. Many people consider this an illegitimate form of playing a game or cheating. In Dead or Alive Xtreme 3, many players consider it fair use because of the harsh, unfair conditions present in fundamental game mechanics.
The game automatically saves after almost every action and failure rates for gift-giving are considerably high, forcing the player to spend more currency to re-wrap gifts. Currency or “Zack Dollars” are also considered very time consuming to accumulate, especially due to the low money limit. Backing up a save and reloading a specific point to avoid costly random failures can save a substantial amount of time.
How do I do it?
If you would like to put the odds in your favor in DOAX3: Fortune, you will need either a PS Plus account or a USB flash drive. If you’re using a USB flash drive, it is recommended to format it to exFAT for the best compatibility and speed transfers with PS4. FAT32 can be very slow, even for small items, such as a save file. Alternatively, you can upload to online storage if you have PS Plus. A flash drive is recommended for better speed and use offline.
In all cases of save scumming, before you perform an action of chance, open your PS4 Home Screen and go to Settings>Application Saved Data Management>Accept to close the game>Saved Data in System Storage>Copy to USB Storage Device (or Upload to Online Storage)>DEAD OR ALIVE Xtreme 3 Fortune. Check the box on Saved Data and then select Copy. It may ask you to confirm, so just say Yes.
After that, go back to the game to perform your action. If you succeed, you can backup your save using the same method. In the case of failure, go back to Application Saved Data Management and choose Saved Data on USB Storage Device (or Online Storage) and Copy to System Storage. When you go back to the game, you can retry your action.
Refer to the methods below to make quick money or avoid re-wrapping gifts.
Roulette Save Scumming
For roulette, you will need at least 200,000 Zack Dollars, but 400,000 is recommended. Backup your save before you go to the roulette table.
Bet full stacks on the 1st12 square, as well as all the squares from 1 to 12 with Z$100 chips. Filling these squares will cost roughly Z$200,000. If you do not win you can try one more time. Winnings are usually at least Z$500,000 and upwards to Z$850,000 so it’s okay to try twice to save time. If you lose after two tries, reload your backed-up save file and try again. When you win, back out to the hotel room to ensure proper saving, then backup your save file. Now repeat until you have as much money as you need.
Gifting Save Scumming
Before giving a gift, backup your save. If the gift is rejected, you can reload your backed-up save file and try again. If your gift is accepted, you can choose to backup your save again if you wish.
